Japanese Tea Ceremony

when pushed in a discussion this spring, about what i believe now, i likened spirituality to a japanese tea ceremony.

i believe a good part of our experience and knowing comes from a vast well of the inexpressible.

try and explain it with words is just not the same.

Guns and Roses fans?

i'm not one, but just caught the biography on tv.

i happened to have met axel roses ( as he called himself by then) parents in a friend's neighborhood in indianna.

when axel would come home for a visit in the midto late 80's police cars would always end up at the house.

Axl wasn't so much as out of control as he was a complete asshole. His drug use was minor when compared to the other members and he kicked at least one out of the band because of drugs. Axl just loved to fight and cause trouble. He was the only conceptualist in the band and its creative force. But the man was difficult and didn't release anything else until long after everyone forgot about them. It all went to his head.

the outright contradictions and stuff like overlapping generation is too ridiculous.

calling out the harold camping when we did the same thing.

I doubt it but if they did they would undoubtedly attain a certain level of schadenfreude as one would when they see an ex go off about them on a social media site years after the breakup.

No more circuit assemblies

i heard from a reliable source that there will be no more 2 day assemblies, but instead 2 one days each year.

anyone heard this yet?

supposed to start new service year.

Assemblies were more social events than real 'instruction' to the masses. I hardly ever paid as much attention as I would at a KH because there were so many distractions and less supervision from people who knew who you were. The speakers always got cross with the attendees whenever they informed us that the program was to begin shortly. People kept on chattering like it didn't matter. Conventions were originally conceived to generate as much attention in the public and press for what was then an obscure movement. They have served their purpose long ago and are hardly needed anymore. In this day and age no media outlet is going to care if the JWs congregate at a sport stadium for 8, 7, or even 2 or 3 days. They became JW social events, and for this reason I think the GB is keen on reducing the days (and by extension, costs) of these gatherings. Herd the sheep in, talk up a huge book release and guilt everyone into donating for it and the costs of the assembly. That should only take a day. The rest is just rubbish and filler.

Just to clarify, this wasn't meant to seriously compare the Queen to the GB (thus the reason I had posted this in the Jokes and Humour section). She does serve as Supreme Governor of the Anglican Church, but I'll save my criticism for the unlikely event that she commands all Anglicans to shun former members.

It would seem that Harry Hewitt is breathing a huge sigh of relief now that he has a nephew who has moved ahead of him in the line of succession and now would himself be an unlikely future King. Growing the beard was probably a sign of his new-found independence, much like an ex-JW might grown previously forbidden facial hair or have his hair long. Good for him - if he doesn't want the responsibility in the first place, then it's a bit silly to force him into it. Let him join the ranks of the other royals no one has ever heard of and have him cut ribbons on children's hospitals or something.
